I recently had reason to activate my personal locator beacon. Within five minutes of activation I received a phone call from the RCC to confirm the activation was intentional. It took only two minutes to pass the known details of the incident.

 

Ten minutes after the first conversation I received a second phone call advising that the RCC was liaising with local police and SES and that the emergency helicopter HEMS4 was in its way.

 

The service and communication provided were second to none. Information did not have to be repeated and I was kept up to date with clear and concise information.

 

I believe that the more of us that have access to an emergency beacon the better, and I say this for the same reason I give blood:

 

 

 

One day I may just need it, and chances are that it’s not going to be mine that saves my life!
